Title: Shifting Israel's Farming Economy to a Successful Technology Powerhouse
Ph.D. candidate of Ben Gurion University of the Negev
Department of Business Administration
Guilford Glazer School of Business and Management
Motivated by both ideology and economic necessity in its early days, the State of Israel promoted an agriculture-oriented economy and provided incentives to individuals and organizations to settle in rural areas and to build farming communities. Nonetheless, this orientation has shifted: in recent years, Israel has changed its economic orientation and has become a technology powerhouse and one of the most urbanized societies.
Our findings shed light on key elements of networks and networking activities. Results provide insight into the role of a diverse spectrum of actors and their network alliances within and between urban clusters and point to the important contribution of foreign VCs while showing the marginal contribution of other actors.
Currently conducting doctoral research with focus on the success factors of Israeli technology ventures, business networks, High Tech Entrepreneurship, M&A, strategy and regional development. Involvement and board membership with technology ventures and socially responsible organizations, both in Israel and in the US.
