Wang, Yangyuan, Professor, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chief Scientist of Institute of Micro/nanoelectronics, Peking University. IEEE Fellow, IEE Fellow, CIE Fellow, Standing Committee member of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Electronic Science and Technology Committee, Deputy Director of National Integrated Circuit Industry Development Advisory Committee. Founded and led the construction of Peking University microelectronics disciplines, become well-known domestic and foreign research and personnel training base.
Prof. Wang graduated from Peking University in 1958, and became a faculty member in Peking University at the same year. He and his colleagues established Institute of Micro/nanoelectronics and department of Micro/nanoelectronics, Peking University. Up to now, Prof. Wang has had over 100 MS and Ph. D. students as well as post-doc researchers, published 9 books and over 300 academic papers, and held over 60 patents.
Prof. Wang’s research areas include novel devices, novel process technologies & novel circuit structures in Micro/nanoelectronics. In 1970’s he was one of the pathbreakers for the development of the Silicon-gate-N-channel MOS technology in China; In 1980’s he studied the physics of MOS insulators and polysilicon films; In early of 1990’s he investigated the structures of SOI devices & circuits, and worked on MEMS&NEMS and integrated systems in later of 1990’s; Recently, Prof Wang’s research interests focus on green Micro/nanoelectronics including novel nano-scale & ultra-low-power devices & integrated systems.
Prof. Wang was one of the founders to establish the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), which greatly helps the development of the semiconductor industry in China. He was the Chairman of SMIC (2005-2009) and is currently the Honorary Chairman of the board and Chief Scientific Advisor in the company (2009-now).
