Zhang, Haixia (Alice) is a professor in the Department of Microelectronics, School of EECS, Peking University. She received Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Huazhong Univ. of Sci. & Techn. at 1998, finished her postdoctoral research at the Tsinghua Univ. from 1999-2001, then joined the faculty of the Institute of Microelectronics in 2001. From 2004 to 2006, she was a visiting professor at the Univ. of California, Davis/Berkeley and the Case Western Reserve Univ.. She is active in the field of micro and nanotechnologies with a focus on novel manufacturing and design techniques, especially micro energy devices and system.
Dr. Zhang has published 300+ peer-reviewed scientific publications and 8 books/book chapters, co-invented 32 patents (include 5 US patents). She is Associated Editor of IEEE TNANO, editor of IEEE-JMEMS, Microsystems & Nanoengineering, IET MNL, etc. She served on the program committees of numbers international conferences, such as, IEEE NEMS, IEEE Nano, Transducers and MNE conferences, etc. In particular she was General Chair for the IEEE NEMS 2013, Suzhou, and organizing chair of Transducers2011 Beijing. She is the chairs of IEEE NTC Beijing Chapter. She won National Invention Award of Science & Technology at 2006, Teaching Award at 2013, Geneva Invention Gold Medal at 2014. She is the board members of Scientific Advisory Board of Université Paris-Est (France), Piaget Award for miniaturization (Switzerland).
Dr. Zhang has more than 30 research projects including NSFC, 973 programs, 863 project, etc. Her research achievements are summarized as follows:
1. Micro/Nano fabrication technology: She developed mass production method for hybrid micro/nano Dual-Scale Structures in silicon wafer and transfer it into flexible materials with low cost and unique properties, which can be utilized in energy harvesting devices and other applications.
2. Micro Energy harversting technology: She is the pioneer of Triboelectric Nano generator(TENGs), many advanced high performance TENGs, such as the first single friction layer TENGs and transparent TENGs, ultra-thin layers, etc are published and highlighted in EES, Nano Letters, ACS Nano, AFM, etc.
3. Self-Powered Smart System: Dr. Zhang contributed the first self-powered analogy smart skin, self-powered smart patch and ultra-sensitive pressure sensor on stretch and transparent substrate, etc, these achievements draw a lot of attention in the fields.
Moreover, Dr. Zhang is the founder and general chair of the International Contest of innovation (iCAN) since 2007, now it has 50K+ participants from 20 countries every year. She also initiated “iCAN-PKU” MOOC since 2010, 100K students obtained credits at 2016 in mainland China. She has delivered 350+ public lectures in last 5 years.
