Yang, Zhi is an associate researcher in the Department of Computer Science and technology, School of EECS. He obtained his B.Sc. from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2005, and Ph.D. from Peking University in 2010, respectively. Current research interest lies in the security, graph and behavioral models in online social networks, and the design and the optimization of distributed systems for large-scale data processing.

Research experiences. 2011-2012, Post-doctor in Peking University, mainly involved with parallel processing related work. 2012-2015, Assistant researcher of Peking University, main research activities include social data mining, distributed storage and computation. And from 2015, shift interest towards machine learning.

Dr. Yang has published more than 30 research papers, and most of them are published in top-tier conferences and journals, such as WWW, ATC, INFOCOM, IMC, TC, TDSC, TPDS and TKDD. His research achievements are summarized as follows: (1) Sybil detection in online social network: One major research topic in online social network is to distinguish fake accounts from real users. He provided the first comprehensive understanding of behavior of fake accounts and proposed some novel detection methods by exploring the implicit distrust information. His work published on TKDD journal has been cited more than 200 times. (2) Large graph processing and optimization: The processing of large graph data, such as social media data, brings great challenge to researchers in data management and mining fields. He proposed new processing models for algorithm expression, and CPU/GPU hybrid processing engine to improve the performance of graph systems.
